The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Jeremy your opinion is correct, what we call buff laced here in the U.K. and they call buff laced white in europe, which explains the colour better, buff with white lacing, carries two copies of the blue gene as does splash and pyle which is produced from two blue partridge parents, any mating of blue to blue whether it be cuckoo, partridge laced or any other pattern will produce a percentage of offspring carrying two copies of the blue gene ie: splash, if buff white laced is mated to gold/buff black laced all offspring will be laced blue
I hope this clears any confusion

Bob

Joy, love seeing those big wide loads you have for hens. Goldie has filled out quite a lot since I last saw her and we need to remember is just a baby yet. She's a pretty thing. I'm with Jeremy; if there are more photos I think we'd all enjoy them. Thanks for sharing. Dave

Thank you for the clarification. Is this Bob Follows?

I think the color, whether we call it Buff Laced, Gold Laced White or Splash Laced Gold is absolutely beautiful.

Oh Joy, they are all gorgeous.

Clementine is simply breath taking, Winston is MASSIVE! I love Minerva and Matilda's shape, they look like big girls too. Sweet little Goldie looks petite compared to the big Blue girls!

I can't wait to see her and Winston's babies!!!

ETA: I know you took more pictures than that, where are the rest?

Thanks Jeremy,

I honestly don't have anymore decent pictures from that day. Nobody was cooperative except Clementine and she was very happy to "pose." Goldie definitely isn't as large as my BBS, but she is filling out nicely. She is a little over 9 months old now, so she still has some growing to do. She's a pretty girl, though. Winston is massive - he cracks me up - he is just the funniest rooster I've ever had.

You all didn't warn me about the English Orps and their molting.

There was a couple months there that I was convinced that my prettiest girl was going to die. She was so incredibly thin, especially next to her sister. She's filled back in now and is gaining weight again. (still not laying though) I've never had one get so thin while molting - when I picked her up there was literally nothing to her. Now it's her sister's turn, she's molting now.

Now that my "ostrich" one is all pretty again, I'll have to get a current picture of her. But you'll have to wait on the other one, she's looking pretty pathetic right now.
