The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

We have other varieties of bantams here - but we are working on releasing them some. We have lavender mottled, chocolate cuckoo, cukcoo, black splits (Roger Clarke line). We are releasing the Black split line today.

those are just the best looking bantams orps ever...look at the little barred ones in there! when they grow up (ha) they still look like a true orpington..they did a beautiful job on these birds..I fell in love with Kathys chocolates..

I have a big rooster that sleeps in a hay pile on the ground, and an australorp rooster that prefers to ground sleep..I just make a big pile for them..the bigger orps can break a leg by jumping down from too far..not sure about these little bantams..I have lower roosts set up but the 2 roosters wont use them..
Thanks. The lighter barred birds are two juvie legbar roosters (got quite a few of those) and the darker with the red breast is one of my juvie female legbars ( got a few of those in the brooder). The chocolates are from a breeder who got them directly from Heirloom Opringtons so they are from the Rob Boyd line. I'm gonna hold on to them for a while but if DH insists I'll have to rehome as I really like my marans and the legbars and am anxious for the Jubilees. These guys are just sooooooooooo sweet and cute.

pips&peeps - I hear ya

hopefully they'll hold their value. I'm enjoying them while I've got them though.

blackbirds13,

Try using some coops like our duplex coop. You can have a quad of each variety/breed on each side. With just two coops you could house 4 breeds and/or varieties. Take turns free ranging the birds. A different pen out each day. Less room needed and more birds kept!

Do you have full size? whats the bucket for? like the look

HallFamilyFarm: Fit it in your WIFE'S living room? Bwahahaha! My DH would cry! I'd have to drape a sheet over the front and tell him it was filled with beer. It would probably take him until they pipped to figure it out!

Blackbirds: 3 breeds or not, you are stepping on your husbands toes and must send those chocolate babies directly over to me. Post Haste. I really have only YOUR best interest in mind here.

OK Orpie Peoples... Can anyone help me sex these guys? I apologize up front for the awful pics. They are with a broody and not too camera friendly.

Bachelor #3

Bachelors number 1 and 2 together: I was under the happy suspicion that bachelor number 2 (on the right) was a pullet this morning, call it wishful thinking. Perhaps sleep deprivation. But after more studying, the size of the hoofers on that one lead me to believe it is a roo, or perhaps one big legged woman.
