The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Pullet. Larger comb than most at that age but I still say pullet. No red on comb or around the eyes.

Hello everyone! Here is one of my Renie'sPeeps chicks... about 3-4 months old.  Boy or girl? Thanks for the help.  I thought boy at first but now I am thinking girl.

I don't know about gender, but my, what a looker! The babies I am growing out are from ReniesPeeps, you've given me something to look forward to! We are still in the Ostrich stage.

I need help with gender on this one, I have been back and forth but now am at the "it's a cockeral" side....what do you think? 2 months old, comb and wattles have been this size for a while and one of my blue chicks from my own that is a month younger has bigger comb and wattles....

and just for fun, not an import but one of HenThymes bantam girls, I think she is pretty nice for an almost 3 month old, pretty fluffy IMO

I think it is a roo. You can see attitude... lol Now.. my boys usually take longer to feather... they go around with bare butts .. Can you remember if this one feathered out all over quickly or not?? Honestly.... I get fooled sometimes too... soo until you either hear him try to crow... or see saddle feathers... there is a chance it is a pullet.

and here is a pic of two chicks I hatched from Korfus Kluckers, lf choc orp project....I think it is funny how the choc is the same size or bigger than the lf chicks that hatched with it and the black is smaller. I think it will be interesting to see the end size of the black one. sorry for poor quality pic, daughter borrowed my camera so I had to use my phone

blackbirds13,

Try using some coops like our duplex coop. You can have a quad of each variety/breed on each side. With just two coops you could house 4 breeds and/or varieties. Take turns free ranging the birds. A different pen out each day. Less room needed and more birds kept!

I must have this.

Please PM me with where you got it or any plans or tips. It's EXACTLY what my husband and I were talking about just last night!
