On another note, does the full moon cause some chicks to hatch early? I remember Labor/Delivery was always buzzing around a full moon. Also, I'm thinking that raising chicks, in the South, during the Fall/Winter would grow bigger birds since they eat more and are less active. Have any of you Southerners noticed a difference between Fall chicks and Spring chicks in size? Just wondering since mine were a May hatch and were raised during the hottest time of the year.
You could stuff 12 pillows with the feathers from your gang !! NO heat unless it goes below 20. Then just a 100 W. bulb will keep combs from freezing. The EBOs love this cooler weather. They're having a ball doing Mary Poppins numbers in the wind.No heat? I was just wondering if I should rig a heat lamp for my gang. How about their combs? Should I rub some balm on their exposed skin?...The boys kinda liked it. Put some on them a while back when the gnats were biting them.![]()
