The Legbar Thread!

My girls like to cluck and sing when we're around, but otherwise they're very quiet.
x2 mine have been quiet as well. Unless there is something wrong, and then they will tell you. Read someplace that they are a noisy breed---but that hasn't been the case with mine. Congratulations on getting you chicks! Remember to share picts once you have them.

X3 mine are no louder than any of my other breeds. I feel they are quieter than my Black Copper Marans, but that may only be because I have twice as many BCM hens as CL hens.

My CL hen squawks at about the same decibel level as the rest of the hens, but far more rarely. In general she's a very quiet girl.

Thanks everyone! Great feedback - you guys are great.

I have a corner lot and they will be near the busier street so I don't think it will be a problem. Now I just need to find something to keep them in until they can stay outside, and a heatlamp, and random other stuff...

So it begins.......

No pics of the chicks yet, they are always so fast and never stand still. But I do have a pic of my original F1 rose comb legbar rooster. He is the brother to the hens that I am using to make the rose comb legbars. He only has 1 copy of the barring gene, but I still like the color and something about the way he flows is attractive to my eye.

Glad to see these lighter ones pop out.

I begg of you, Keep track records on both type of males, they could be our ticket to finally understanding whats going on with silver looking males and rich colored males. I have a genetic theory for such difference but I'm not comfortable enought to sait just yet.... but its not due to e+ alleles.

He has a great stance too, and good feathering. His comb follows the back of his head well - does he have a crest?

nice crele looking male... I like his stand, white ear lobe too..

He does have a small crest, bigger than one of the pure males I have but smaller than my main male. His type and the way he moves are attractive to me which is why I want to start on the light brown legbar project.

light brown legbar project.
thanks for the pic, I need it a single barred legbar male to help make my "Dark/Light" legbar Theory. if you get a Double barred male please post them

wouldnt a light brown legbar look just like a light brown leghorn? with no barring and no autosexing?

Edit. can you post more pics of him? from the front
