The Legbar Thread!

why divide your resources as a community? just breed for one goal, if the standard that is being used today does not fit the american state of afairs, then just create your own and call them the American Cream Creasted Legbars..

I didn't think I was dividing resources, it seemed like a legitimate idea. Not an idea that undermined anything, or anyone. A variety of blue egg laying, crested, autosexing Legbar. I'm not the only person who has wondered the same thing. It's not an affront to anyone.

I've been reading this discussion & I have to wonder why we have to strive for something we don't have. We have the birds that were imported to work with & why not just strive to improve what we have instead of trying to change them? We can strive for attainable things like straight combs & crests, but why totally change the breed when that is what makes them unique? If we want the bird to look like any other barred breed then why are we bothering? There are a lot of barred breeds out there, but these birds have characteristics that others don't have. IMO we need to strengthen those characteristics & quit worrying so much about color.

I genuinely apologize.  I won't do it again.

Yea definitely not youlike I said I love to hear your post trish is hitting my point exactly it doesn't matter if a different bird has the same barring gene. we're here to learn about CCL these other birds look obviously different that's because the underlying genetic makeup is totally different who cares they have the same barring gene they look totally different because it's a different breed and they were made from different breeds themselves its a run around hocus pocus I'm really tired of it. now on the other hand if you listed an entire list of the genetic makeupfor CCL and then mentioned are referred a different breed followed by an entire list of the genetic makeup then you can make comparisons and say why it should look the same but I would almost guarantee all the little letters and plus minus signs won't be the same
