Can anyone identify my Cream Legbar?
Thank you! That is what I was thinkingMiss Prissy is the Cream Legbar. She is the only one with a yellow beak, sex-linked barring, and a crest.
***edited to clarify "sex-linked Barring" since two of these do have autosomal barring which is quite different from what the cream legbar breed has.
Miss Prissy is the Cream Legbar.
well, ok-Probably you would love Cream Legbars if you want eggs and you were to get your stock from a line that performs well (Lays lots of blue eggs)--- I think it is the C line from Greenfire Farms - one of their first import lines. One of my hens is from that line and each day when I pick up her egg--- I tell her she is a treasure. Her egg size is 1.9 oz and that is just 1/10 oz short of 'large'. I would rather have daily that big....:O)
You should definitely look into this breed.
well, ok-
i did go get a 6 month old roo yesterday. (byc for sale) hes a riot!! ive never seen such a big comb and those Wattles! he actually has beard and mustache type feathers!
and cranky old man eyebrows!!
he took over "his" hen house Immediately.
no other roos except a young buff orp right now.
he went into the hens egglaying nest and was putting up a huge fuss and kicking things out, golfball, poo, some bedding. then
calmly got out as if to say, okay girls i got ya a nice nest ready for you
is this normal behavior like hes getting the nest set up for them?
very interesting times ahead!
i think hes gonna be a really good rooster.
oooooI am a show person at heart ( dog, horses....etc. ), so it really bothers me when some doesn't strive for quality. I like the SOP and I like to know that I am doing right by a breed. You can feed good chickens as well as bad chickens and the SOP is there for a reason. Some standard are just for looks, but some are for the health of the bird.
See ya![]()
ill make my son do pics for me, for crying out loud, i cant even put in an avatar!!Some of my roosters do that for my hens and pullets. I currently have some 20week old Spitzhauben and the rooster has been making a nest and calling the pullets to it and then he will lay there with them while they check it out. They haven't laid an egg yet but I suspect it will be soon.
Sounds like you might have the makings of a nice rooster. We would love to see pics of him.

I thought my cockerel was crazy. He has been doing that for a week or two now. Too bad the pullets are not as mature as he is, however the Brahma pullets have been responding to his calls, but they are a lot bigger than him and promptly kick him out or beat him up.Some of my roosters do that for my hens and pullets.
