congratulations!

Finally got pics of my legbars from this season. The judge was Jeanette Frank, she took a copy of the proposed standard and placed my birds accordingly. I brought 2 males, 2 single comb pullets and a rose comb. They are a little excited in the cages but still great looking.

CONGRATULATION
Unfortunately it seems our local fair does not take birds not listed so the CL that I have were not able to be entered. I'm green but I think I read the rules correct for the Dixie Classic Fair.

Here are some pictures of my Legbars. Marco, Hope and Faith turned 20 weeks today. Whereas Sheila is 13 wks. Pictures were taken at night so not the best for colors as well as their stances.

Hey all. I have a question about sexing... I purchased 4 pullets and a roo this summer, (late june) i got 3 at once and 2 a few weeks later, from the same person, the last 2 I got were suppose to be both pullets, but as they have grown, I am thinking that one of them is a boy. although they are the same age, just a different line, one of them looks just like the roo, in coloring/barring, but the comb and waddles are small like a pullet. I have been looking to see if I could find a pullet similar to it... with no luck. I will have to take updated pictures later.

the one in question is the left one in both photos...

The one on the far left? Give it a 2-4 more weeks and it should be more obvious (ie comb, saddle, or even spur growth). The standard does call for grays and barring in the females.

This is the first unsure specimen I have seen. Whether it turns out to be a pullet or cockerel, you should not breed it or you may lose the auto-sexing feature from your off-springs.
I want to say a cockerel based on neck barring but probably wait and see for couple of more weeks.

hi

all these birds are so pretty!
sallysunshine has legbars and i have one of her roosters. i was SOO surprised to see the size of his comb and wattles!!
im starting to get worried now, because i dont want him to be frostbitten.
i know that vaseline will help. but these are the biggest wattles ive ever seen!
maybe i should not have gotten him.........can you tell me about your experiences?
im trying to figure out this ventilation but no draft coop.

My only boys with no frost bite have been in small coops with only the door opening and small cracks for ventilation. I can say though that the boys in healthier coops did heal pretty quickly when the weather warmed up again.
