The Legbar Thread!

Sorry I've been away so long! Apparently, doing a third masters, working full time, joining a new therapy cohort with the state, trying to manage a small farm, and keeping a social life are not wise to combine. I am only on here today because I'm sick and my doctor told me to stay home from work and take it easy. Since the last time I was on here, I have gotten about 15 Rees Line Legbars. I have around 10 cockerels and the rest hens. So, I will have several cockerels/roosters for sale once they grow out. They are pure Rees Line and will have some great genetics. I can already see a HUGE difference between them and my Legbars from 3 different lines of Greenfire birds I've gotten in the past. Please PM me if you'd be interested in a cockerel or two and I can let you know when they're grown out and I've done my selections. :)

I just checked your website and there are no Rhodebars anymore. Have you opted out of Rhodebars?
Also just curious what are the 3 Masters in? You are inspiring me to go for a 3rd one myself!

I only have a pair of Rhodebars. So, not enough of them to sell. ;)

Tim,
I'm just getting into CCLs. I only have two of fourteen eggs left in the incubator, but will be getting that dozen re-incubator later down the line. They are such pretty birds.

I am almost to my second master's, and I'm thinking of going back for a PhD ... or to get an RN.

BTW, what IS a "paw paw"? I remember the line from the kid's song: "Way down yonder in the paw paw patch ..."

Okay, this isn't making sense. Got CCL eggs off of eBay advertised as "CCL's lay large blue eggs." Well, the eggs I got were maybe medium size and greenish. Two chicks hatched out. One is very yellow in coloring with some grey and a decided head spot.... and then there's this one. What is it? Boy? Girl? A wait-and-see?

Any input would be appreciated. TIA!

Did the eBay seller post pictures of the parent birds? Perhaps they mixed up your shipment with someone elses?

I'm sort of wondering if it was another bird in the pen, as in an egg from a CLxRIR fertilized by the CL. Looking at the pictures, it's only that one roo in the pen. He's kind of a washout in coloring, too.

The darkest dot actually looks like a dot of chipmunk with two black outside lines.

Did you get any blue eggs from that shipment or were they all sort of greenish tinged?

They definitely don't look like CL chicks. Or like @ChicKat said maybe they mixed up your eggs and you got something else instead.
