Thank you ChicKat! They seem so big to me - although that could well be due to the fact that they are our first large fowl chicks

I will keep you guys up to date on my little cream legbar adventure!

Anyone in the Atlanta area with Cream Legbar hatching eggs for sale? I'm trying to get in a hatch before fall. I'd love to set a dozen this weekend if possible.

Yay! -- get them hatched this fall and you will get eggs this spring. way-to-go. If you don't find someone near Atlanta, there are members with lovely chickens that would mail you eggs probably. One is chicken pickin, one is KPenley - they are in the East there somewhere..... ;O) Good luck with your quest.

If you have no luck here, you can also try the Cream Legbar Clubs website, there is a member directory

Thanks for the tips, looks like I found someone in N. Georgia. I'm excited, legbars were what I wanted since I first got chickens but I couldn't find any around me for reasonable prices. I guess 3 years ago they were just still too new. Hope I have a good hatch. :)

Just a quick picture of my oldest rose combed cockerel. Not sure if I'll keep him because his tail is high and he has a huge comb. I have one more RC cockerel that I hope turns out good. Otherwise, the rose combed ladies are looking decent so they may just go with a cream rooster in the spring

Good luck -- and keep us posted on your adventures and how your hatch turns out. -- BTW -- fantastically cute avatar!

Ironically, out of three hens I am only getting 2 eggs per week. I was sure they had a hidden nest in the bushes. I did find a nest, but none of the eggs were from the legbars. They just turned 2 years old, so age probably isn't the reason. It has been really hot here, but I thought legbars were supposed to lay well in the heat. My Rhode Islands are still laying everyday. :)
Did you find the source of diminished eggs? Is it your heat up there? --

FWIW - I thought that my Isbar that is just past a year old had been a slacker because I hadn't seen eggs - and then I found a cache where she had hidden 8 - eggs and was placing the 9th there. Maybe yours were holding out on you?
