Beautiful birds! No Carlisle or Esme?

Might have to change the names of the parents? Or just hatch more.

The cresting gene appears dominant. So I would hang on to her anyway.
Hair Club for Hens.I have a coming 3 month old roo that also has the crooked comb - he has a huge pullet-like crest as well, I am sure that is the reason for the comb being crooked, but he is going to have to go.
All 5 of my November hatchlings have bright yellow legs. One of the two pullets, however, is crestless. Too bad she did not get her brother's crest!

Anyone heard of or used these? Inexpensive sensors that measure and record rough handling of packages. Sounds perfect for mailing hatching eggs.

If we could inform the post office about definite rough handling of a package marked FRAGILE -- HATCHING EGGS, it's possible that handling might improve or that they'd refund the loss. (Optimistic, I know.)You would know if the package was treated harshly, but how would it help?

If enough people shipping hatching eggs used them, we might be able to correlate how much the handling affects hatchability, or if eggs packed a particular way survive rough handling better.
At the least, it might provide some comfort to know that a very poor hatch had been through seismic activity, and it wasn't your incubator or a dodgy seller.![]()
