The Legbar Thread!

Got another pullet egg today!!! I have 2 out of 3 pullets laying now- and I'm pretty sure which two it is. Took me by surprise because it was the same size as the full-grown hen's eggs- but the blood streaks tell me it's a pullet egg! Yippee!!!! My two Isbar pullets laid their first eggs today, too!!!!!

Just went out to do lockup and found ANOTHER PULLET EGG! All membrane, no shell. So that means I have all SIX CREAM LEGBARS LAYING NOW!!!!! Woohoo! So I got 4 brand new pullets laying today, 2 CL and 2 Isbar!

And Charlie the rooster is sold pending pickup next week, and then I will be setup for spring breeding! So excited!

If someone had told me 3 years ago I'd feel this happy and excited about eggs being laid and chickens hatching in states so distant from own ... or in fact at all, I'd have laughed so hard. Hoping you and everyone else has a great breeding year ahead.

Been meaning to post some pics of my cream legbars as they are really coming into a beautiful look now. It helps that my photographer friend took the photos: credit to zooweemama for the photos:

here's the non standard golden boy, lots of gold. he's out of the breeding pen right now, though I personally still like his color, gonna focus on chicks from the roo at bottom

I have been thinking about the database idea and curious if we could maybe do a hyper-text system that allowed members to link their own websites or webpages to the website's breeders list. I cannot see how you could ever make a database that could keep up with the myriad of divergent aspects of breeding chickens. Maybe we could start a list of when you got your original flock and from whom? But maybe we could even allow members to have pages on the site or maybe linked to the site. I like the way the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen website has member pages that then allows a hyper-texted page for members to attach a representative photo and a brief description on the website. Perhaps something like that might allow folks to describe their flock. Maybe if we grouped regionally.... just thoughts passing through my brain as I try to get my darn Keurig to work properly this morning.... Guess I am glad my mother-in-law re-gifted me another one for christmas

I like the bottom boy better myself also. Nice looking crested hens. Your rooster's tail looks nice too.
