The Legbar Thread!

My birds are molting too -- no eggs for a L O N G time..... (or is that nasty one eating them in 40-seconds without a trace.... ) Should we post pictures of molty birds to see who's looks the worst??

Only one tail feather left....she is looking a bit less than gorgeous of late. I wonder if it is an affront to their dignity to photograph them in molt....poor little kid.... HOWEVER, I do have to say that the feather she has retained is 45-degrees from horizontal.

Yup, she saved the best for last!

I was just looking over the current SOP proposed, and it includes olive colored eggs! I would have thought that would certainly not have been part of the Standard. As meticulous as the folks drafting the American SOP have been about every detail, shouldn't we maintain an equally strict Standard for the eggs.. considering an important part of the very description & appeal of the Breed is the pastel blue/turquoise (as you please) color of the eggs?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo That is the UK SOP -- check out this one:

or did it leave off eggs...because if it did - I cutted and pasted it wrongly. the USA doesn't include olive eggs.

Where are you accessing the proposed SOP? From my recollection we omitted olive as this would only encourage confusion of pure bred birds with mixed breeds. All US birds currently lay either a blue or slightly green egg, part of which depends on your color perception. Perhaps you are looking at an early draft or at a UK standard?

ETA: Ah I see you and ChicKat figured it out!

Thank you everyone for the hatch advice. My gut was telling me this morning that it wasn't right. It died. Further gut advice is that it never would of made it anyway. Learn learn learn.:)

Oh -- you know what.... I don't see egg color in either the one on the website or the one in the Club house -- guess I better go check the newsletter from that quarter....BUT is it possible that egg color was omitted from the DRAFT?????

Know what else? I went searching through the newsletter that I thought the draft was located in- and it wasn't there?!?! Now how did we do that? Anne did we decide to omit it from the 3rd quarter newsletter and I'm just forgetting? Or maybe I just skipped over it....

Regardless, that is what I recall we decided on the eggs. Blue and green allowed, olive not allowed. We need to add egg color to the proposed SOP webpage if it isn't there.
