The Legbar Thread!

Do you look for the lightest male? Gary or yellow or what?

My best looking boy had almost a beige down on his head.

Here you can see him. He is the third chick from the left. He has very little red on him. The chick all the way to the right is a more common looking boy. I have 2 from the shipment I shared with you and these boys have a bunch of red. Won't be breeding from them.

Thats right, I have read that.... yet the SOP does not call for Cream colored chick down... for Females... Silver-grey type for Males.. The down is much paler in tint, the pattern being blurred and washed out from head to rump; it may best be described as pale silvery-slaty. nowhere in the SOP calls for Cream Down...

Mostly I would say avoid male chicks with a reddish hue to their down, and as light/silvery coloring as possible. Not that you can't get good males from other coloring but I seem to be getting the best results from the light gray chicks with no reddish cast to them.

X2 on the reddish cast, especially around the head on boys and the stripes on girls. Reddish casts have turned into lots of red shoulder/backs and brownish bodies in my limited experience.
