The Legbar Thread!

Thats just crazy.

(referring to $5,000 chickens)

Well, if $5,000 were pocket change to me (which needless to say it is not), and I already gave a large proportion of my money to charities etc., I'd probably spring for a pair. They are pretty cool. And the local hawks would be delighted.

WOW all boys huh!? That is some luck Do you plan to over winter them all? MY last hatch for the year was in early Aug and I am already getting the itch to start up again lol. I hope I can make it to February that is when I plan to start up again.

Probably not. I already have several hopefuls growing out, one that is marked for double cream, one that was a very light downed boy, and a few others I haven't managed to sell yet. I may save one or two just to follow up on my ideas about the dark downed boys, they are all dark downed. Then I will have a few extras to pair off and sell with the pullets I cull from the breeding pen (I think I have about 20 total at various growing out stages). I'll be rolling in blue eggs and breeding plans once they start laying!!!

I took a bunch of pictures of my 2 CL pullets today and thought I would share to see what you all think. THey are 15-17weeks old now. I have had them for 5 weeks now and they have changed so much. Their pale legs and beaks have gotten much more yellow and the salmon breasts were so dull before but they have really brightened up. Let me know what you all think of them. *warning pic overload lol

Pullet 1

Pullet 2 (she is much harder to get pics of)

and these last 2 pics just because they are cute
