The Legbar Thread!

Here are my supposed legbars at 5 weeks. What does everyone think? Do either of them look pure to you? The darker one is a pullet for sure. I'm 90% sure the lighter one is a pullet, but it has a bigger comb that the sister. Sorry for the pics, they wouldn't hold still.
Well there is a possibility that they are Legbars, or have a Legbar parent. Cream, no. Golden Crele, probably not, but who knows? Maybe you'll be able to tell better when they get their third set of feathers later this year. They both look like they could be pullets :D

Best of luck growing them out! I'd love to see pictures as they grow!

The bottom one in the first picture *could* be pure (won't know for sure until she grows out more, you can see her features, and you also see what color eggs she lays). I am very doubtful that the other one is pure.

I also agree with @KPenley that they are not cream if either is Legbar.

I got my first few eggs from my CL pullets this week. I have one hen laying the normal color egg, but, I also have one who is laying a light "pink" egg. I guess you could call it a very light beige but it does have a sort of pink tint to it. So what should I think of this egg, and the hen that laid it? Should I consider hatching her eggs or not? She is a nicely conformed hen, though her crest is a bit on the big side.... think hat here, rather than crest. Hmmmmm

I am not sure if the same thing applies in chickens but most blue flowers can spontaneously mutate into pink ones, there is a discussion of this on the coop forums.

Here are some updated pictures of the Jill Rees cockerels. Sorry about the lighting. It is hard to get chickens to stand still for pictures.

Guesses as to whether her crest will fill out or is she stuck with this mohawk? 7 weeks. I'm really hoping it gets fuller. She's def not a showbird, but this is just silly looking.

Awww, I think it is kind of cute and appealing -- and yes, her crest will change for you. :O). At a certain stage, mine look like little punk-rockers, then when they are matrue you will have well coiffed pullets.

She's so little still. Give her time to grow :D she's just in her awkward phase.
x2! Wait some time for her to grow out. She might just surprise you.
