Hi all I wish Greenfire Farm was more forthcoming on the bloodlines too. One of people I have been networking got a Juvinile pairs last fall (that stated laying a few months ago) . When I told her I got day-old cockereles with with yellow and red foot bands and pullets with green lime green foot bands she contacted greenfire and they told her that the her juvinile pair was from the original flock which corrolates to the lime-green bad (I am not 100% sold on this). I put my investigation skills together and tried to figure out how the other two bloodlines related to the information that I had from greenfire (since they didn't bother to ever reply to any of my inquiries for information on the bloodlines). All I can say is that the yellow line cockerels have golden chick down, a square body type, crooked combs (likely will be large points), are quite a bit larger than the the red blood line cockerels, and have been getting chestnut color in a few weeks earler than the red bloodline. I would guess they are going to look a lot like the greenfire foundation cockerel (see
http://greenfirefarms.com/store/category/chickens/cream-legbar/ , He is the photo at the top of the page). The red line has black chick down a staight combs (likly will be small points), are much smaller that the yellow bloodline, have a tall up-right body type that are typical of egg only breeds (the square body type is common for dual purpose breeds). I am quessing this is the 2nd greenfire flock that consists of a pullet from the first flock covered by a 2nd imported cock for an different source in the UK (see
http://greenfirefarms.com/2011/11/cream-legbars-a-greenfire-case-study/) I also have some F1 cockerels that were from hatching eggs from a man in Kentucky. The darkest cockerel look like the red line, but the lightest one didn't get anywhere close to the golden color of the yellow line. They were a brownish color, with black patches which I am sure if the color for two bloodlines overlaping each other. I have photos of all my cockerels on the Yahoo Cream Legbar Breeders group (see
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/CreamLegbarBreeders/). They are under the "files" since I couldn't figure out how to post a PDF as a photo. And point out the differences in color between the mix line chicks from hatching eggs and the lines directly from greenfire farm. I only have very limited information and 10 weeks of observation as my birds have grown. I would love to hear what other information people have been able to get (either from greenfire or personal observation) on the bloodlines.
