The Legbar Thread!

I'm not sure we'll find out. He hatched from a double yolk egg and is not growing well. No, I didn't set the egg on purpose, but I didn't pull it either once I discovered I'd set it. Only one chick developed. He hatched covered in the other yolk, which hardened terribly. I've bathed him twice trying to get it off. He seems active enough, but he's just not growing.

Yes, thanks for sharing GaryDean. I can't get away from BYC long enough to research anything.
Ya...I have a goal to spend 1/2 of my time on BYC and 1/2 researching. I do get more research done when I don't have the BYC available.

Yes...I found the paper on line (and saved it to my desktop before the internet went down). http://www.ias.ac.in/jarch/jgenet/41/1.pdf

There are a few other Punnett paper on this website too that I haven't read yet. They cover the barring gene, the cream color, the blue eggs, etc. :)

THANKS!!!! You are the best!!~ I'm off to read up on 'em.

This is so frustrating. I have yet another Legbar Hen having issues. She's having problems walking. She was fine a few days ago when we put new leg bands on them. I have no idea what is going on here or what's going on with these Legbars.

One of my young roosters has an issue with the left side of his face. It's really swollen and his eye is closed. The swelling seems to be increasing. He has an awsome crest so I'm going to see if I can have him looked at by a vet and perhaps try some antibiotics. The other boy and girl seem okay so far.
My older hen stopped laying for a few weeks but is finally at it again

but she seems to be doing okay so far. I'm glad I have some little ones in the basement in case things go awry...

Hi everyone- LOVE all the Legbar pics

and thanks GaryDean26 for all that great info!

Well, I think we can safely say that the recessive whites are indeed sexable at hatch. My group turned out to be 2 girls and a boy. The one I had marked for a boy is in fact the boy- he has a large crest and wattles growing, real cutie pie. Here are some updated pics
