The local Pizza Restaurant is giving us their scraps of pizza and salad.

Hilarious! I'm a bit more aware of what people do to their plates once they are finished eating.
Iv'e worked at waffle house!
Bottom line, I wouldn't give it to my birds they lay eggs for me.
The fact that some random person slobbered on the food that made my eggs would bother the crap out of me.
I tend to not feed them anything I wouldn't eat either.
To each his own though.:)
Omnivore comes from the Latin words omni, meaning "all, everything," and vorare, meaning"to devour."

Some really great input here. This one I loved. It was thought provoking...

Can Chickens get HERPES from eating after someone with a Cold Sore?:p

As far as people doing Drugs...Meth-head's don't eat!:weeHeroin Addicts can't get up to go get Pizza:th.

Pizza has a good amount of carbs, protein and calcium, but it is very high in fat and salt, both of which are bad for chickens. I would limit the pizza intake to between 10-20% and watch for weight gain. If after a couple of months the birds are feeling fatter around their breastbone, I would cut back on the pizza or cut it out. Also keep a close eye on egg laying to make sure production doesn't drop.

I wouldn’t do that I don’t think that is good for their health. The salad probably would be OK as long as it doesn’t have salad dressing on it. I don’t know about pizza though. I mean just think about people that eat pizza and salad with lots of dressing, they usually are obese and that is not good for your health. I think obesity in chickens usually leads to reproductive problems and a shorter lifespan.
Although I have a hard time thinking fresh veggies and fruit are somehow bad for chickens, I would be concerned about salad fixing from a commercial business. The main reason is that they treat their produce with questionable chemicals so that they remain fresh looking much longer than what you have in the fridge. Some people have sensitivities to the treatments used and they only eat those foods occasionally. So, for me, feeding them those salads on a regular basis would not be an option. I would also be concerned about eating their eggs if they were on a steady diet of salad and pizza. The pizza would also be a no no. I do feed my chickens all kinds of kitchen scraps from my own kitchen. So, if you are looking to reduce the cost of feeding your flock, you might try fermenting scratch to supplement their feed. The scratch will double in quantity and the girls will love it.
