How did I miss this! @TinTennessee text me I ALWAYS have eggs. I have some Olive Eggers, marans, and can come up with a few SBEL and some SEX Linked EE too.

@Cinny Do I owe you Olive Eggers? Or is that someone else? I have 2 that are about 3 months old you can get anytime. I can take them with me when I go get feed if that helps.... I think you are near Franklin right?

that's exciting, getting eggs to set!! Can't wait to have some of my own...do you let them sit for a day after arrival to "rest" them before you set them? I got a shipment of eggs from CA a few years ago, still have an olive egger roo from that bunch, and a BCM roo...

this is the olive egger roo. I don't think that we will get too much stormage tonight, seems like the weather forecasters hype these things up WAY more than the results justify....LOL

Nice EE roo, bet his daughters lay pretty eggs!

I've set a couple of my own F2 EEs in w/ the shipped eggs.
I've got sky blue and mint green from mutt EE who are under a CL roo as a fun project as these 2 pullets have laid all winter for me I figured keeping some daughters for the colored egg layer flock is smart ;>

The method I'm trying this time is to put them into the 'bator asap (would have been this afternoon but waiting until the storm passes, it is just hitting me atm actually) anyway to keep them as fresh as possible set immediately on receipt but then *do not turn* for the first 3-7 days depending on air cell quality. Many ppl on the NYDH swear by this as the best method on shipped eggs b/c if you wait the 2 days or so to let the air cells settle b/f you set then they have aged that much more which is bad, so the theory is to get them started development but let them rest at the same time so the air cells can hopefully stabilize then you do have to start normal turning so the embryo does not get stuck in a bad position for development. Several of the ppl who hatch high #s of shipped eggs w/ good results say that is the trick. We will see how it works for me this time...

I did get a CL from my PapaBrooder eggs for NYDH2014 here she is photo from a couple days ago
