Those look like new pin feathers which usually happen after moulting. I'm not seeing anything that looks like parasites.
I hope so. She got a good dusting just in case. Thank you for the re-assurance. Could she be have had a light molt? None of them is over a year old in that pen. There have been very few loose feathers, but a couple of others are a little bald on their backs. I thought it was too much rooster attention.

It is young to be moulting and a strange time of year for it.  It could be new feather growth due to some other reason for feather loss, aka rooster.

This is the time of year chickens mount and she is not too young. Those are New feathers growing in. If it was from a rooster it would still be bare unless the roster had been removed.

Are my chickens ever going to lay?! I have a silkie, Cochin, EE, and Wyandotte, from 6 to almost 7 months old, and still no eggs. Do I need to add light? I thought first year hens laid reguardless of the shorter days?

They will lay but they may take longer than normal when they come into lay in the winter. You can add light in the morning if you want but it will not happen quickly. Still may take a few weeks.

My Dominiques were 7 months before it got cold and already laying. 1 just started up yesterday. My Ameraucauna and Jubilee Orpington have not layed anything as of yet and they are 10 months old.

I've been adding layer boost to my flocks water and going to try the Cayanne pepper trick I've read about around here to spark the other two to lay as they are now 10 months. I'll report back if they aren't laying by Valentines.

It all comes down to light. Now that the sun is coming up a little sooner and staying out a little longer mine are starting back up again. Unless you artificially light, there isn't much you can do other than be patient. It's a struggle. :)

I have another problem or odditity. I have ladies that were laying up until about 3 weeks ago. Their man got into a fight with another man and was hurry a bit, but seems OK. He is a bit more aggressive than he was, but the point is that the 3 ladies with him no longer are laying. Anyone else ever had that happen? Is he frightening then somehow or since there was an incident will they get back to normal?
