I had a chick that a broody attacked and actually skinned her back. I would like to see if it is possible to save this little one. I've had some good outcomes with older one with bad wounds. 

My question is- What is a systemic antibiotic I can use in her food or water that would be specific to skin?
I'm worried about infection, especially where it transitions from skinned, to not skinned and feathers. 

I am cleaning the wound with chlorhexidine daily and keeping it moist with neosporin. 

Another question is- Would Silvadene cream be ok in poultry?
I used it on a rooster who had his toe cut off a couple of years ago, but didn't know if one so tiny could tolerate it. 

She has some pasting going on, but I thought that is probably because she is so stressed. Otherwise she is eating and drinking and chirping loudly. This happened yesterday afternoon.

Have you ever tried blue kote?

Oh, ugh... so sorry for that...

I'd listen to others, but personally with little ones that love to get 'dirty' I prefer to let the wound dry and scab to keep crud from sticking into it... otherwise it seems like constant picking bits off, recleaning and ointmenting, or risking foreign objects causing more damage or infection...

Yes, I use blue cote. Used it yesterday on a grow out that got in the way of the bigger grow out. It works great to cover up that red, peck me, area!

Right now this one is in a shoe box with her own brooder plate. It is a pretty gruesome injury and she is mainly standing there chirping. Infection under the skin that is peeled back is my main concern. When it drops off and seals, she might be able to scab over. If she makes it her name will be Miracle.

An egg that got kicked out to the side, maybe? With our temps and humidity lately, I could hatch eggs on my porch... :/

I just googled it. That sounds like just what she needs. One place said it is a naturally occurring antibiotic, specifically for skin issues. I will see if I can come up with some. Thanks!
