The Middle Tennessee Thread

Happy Friday!!! woo hoo can't wait for the weekend - to spend quality time with my animals ... oh and boyfriend of course *smile*.

Welcome wademach1977 !!! "I have Australorps, Jersey Giants, Leghorns, California Whites, Americaunas, Buff Orphingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, and a few others" sounds like you have a great poultry farm

emmalynn - your silkies are so glamorous - wow!!! I am so on the line about getting some silkies and your pics are definately pulling me in that direction. Looks like you found a great breeder to purchase from.

HBuehler - thanks for the encouragement , I need it. Today is day #20 and I don't hear a peep. I'm so nervous. I really need to get to building a coop so I can start expending my chickens - can't wait for some more warm weather.

Jenski - I'm right with you on this weather. I was so happy that the storm didn't hit us as announced by the weather guys. My drive to work was wonderful, hardly any traffic at 8am on I40.

We were going to meet up today but who knows what this weather will be doing so going to try for next week. This pullet is a house pullet so she's not used to any cold yet..
I keep finding more needing homes..newly added is a MF Cochin Roo from Fancy Feathers good color and type just don't need that many roos

Shelly-you won't hear any chirping from my eggs on day 20..my chicks don't procrastinate
big_smile.png
when they decide to hatch they hatch..break air sack pip and usually hatch very quickly..every once in awhile one will pip then nap.Often no real chirping at all just wake up to a bator full of chicks I have found the chicks that take a day to hatch are usually weaker and don't do well.I'm always looking for the pip zip pop chicks to do the best
I see fluffy butts in your future very soon

Jenski- thank you. I am looking forward to these two little "angels" making some more. Keep your fingers crossed.

Shelley_WNC- I can't believe you don't have silkies. You know they are evil and take over your life, home and wallet...right?!?! You gotta get some.

Shelly-you will hear them throughout the house when they hatch..they chirp like crazy so you know they are out. They are so cute..wet gooey and all then when they fluff you can't resist telling them how cuuuteee they are. That never gets old even after...well never

You do need some bantams to go with the big one's some silkies and some cochins should get you started

Thanks! Here is Megan's new blue pair I borrowed the pic..no pics of her black pair yet.How did we go from no bantams to bantams everywhere? Oh that's right JENSKI

*SMILE* ... OMG I am so excited about 'designing' some coops this spring so I can have my wish list: Polish, Silkies ,ect. ect. Chickens are soooo addictive, well geez there are over 200 breeds how can we all only have one or two breeds. I was amazed to find out there are only 52 breeds of American cows ... so many more kinds of chickens.
