Morning all!

It's so nice and crisp here this morning . . . and I am not sorry to see the wind GONE! Yesterday I kept expecting to see my banties blowing around in the pen like lottery balls in that blower cage they use on TV, LOL! I can feel the days lengthening, too - - and so can my hens. One of my older hens (almost 4!) started laying again right after daylight reached 10 hours, and now she's laying a nice big mint green egg every other day. Still waiting for the oldest girl, but from the looks of the craters in the coop it won't be long now.

My youngest (2010) bantam Ameraucanas kept laying pretty much all winter, and only laid fewer eggs a week right around solstice. . . but never stopped completely. Young (2010) bantam cochins haven't done much at all. Silkies (2009) keep going broody, but when they're not they have been in eggs during winter, too.

And that's the suburban egg report for February 2011! Back to our regularly scheduled program.

I am over near 70 at the back end of MJ. Just follow the sound of the tiny bantam roos.

[Ahhhh, ed. to add, that's HIGHWAY 70, not 70 years old. Yet. Really.]

Good morning! I didn't know you all had started a middle tn thread, mind if i pop in every now and again? I am in Southside, in the extreme southern end of Montgomery county.

Morning all!

Jenski - thank you for making me SMILE with your winter report ... the image of the 'lottery balls/bantams' flying around is hilarious.

I must have looked in that bator 5 times last night and this morning - hoping to see a little spunky chick staring back at me. But it's quite like a deserted town in the bator. I will wait out the day .

On other news , unrelated to chickys, the Giant Angoras are doing great. They really like each other, sad I can't let them out together to much because they are a Doe and Buck and just keep mating.

I also put two of my brush goats for sale on craigslist - I'm trying to get to one breed (boar) and these two are spanish goats I think. I already have three emails from people interested, so that's good. I am going to sell my white Appolossa gelding next - I really like him but he is more for intermediate horse riders and I'm a super beginner.
Not sure if this is a good time to sell horses or if I should wait until Spring.

Beautiful bunnies! Hmmm.....bunnies and chicks....we are definitely speaking my language.

I don't remember who posted about the wind, banties and lottery balls, but what a mental image! I had to get a tissue after that one, I'm still giggling!
