The Middle Tennessee Thread

Hello and welcome debid! Have you considered adding goslings to your bunch to keep the hawks at bay? Now they won't keep big preds like dogs out (unless they are really mean geese, LOL!), but has anyone else had experience raising geese with their chickens here in Mid-TN? I would love to hear more about how this is working for the hawk issue.

I haven't heard that one before. I have a dog that isn't afraid to run off a coyote or another dog or a fox or a bobcat... and I had to pull him off of a young raccoon that wandered into the yard last week. But he pays no attention to the sky. He was there when the hawk swooped. Heck, I was right there! That hawk did not care. My husband blasts the radio when he's outside working and I get annoyed because I can't hear if the chickens sound distressed... but maybe he's the one with the right idea.

Hey everybody, I have a couple large tropical plants that need a new home. One is a yucca cane type of plant at least 7 feet tall that needs re-potted and a mid size pony tail palm about 3-4 feet tall that will also need to be re-potted eventually. I have put them on craigslist but so far either the people show up in tiny cars or swear they are coming and then don't show. Anyway, I am willing to give them to anybody here in the middle tn BYC group. You WILL need a pick-up truck. If interested give me a call or text. None after 9 pm please. Thanks.

Come on in! This is a GREAT group of chickeny people. And there are a TON of us raising silkies. I think pretty much every color is represented now.

Connie, Cathy may be able to help you out on Calico silkies. You should see this ugly rooster she had me drag back from Clanton.

Hubby leaves on Wed around 2 so I should have some free time soon. Or at least time to wipe my own butt. That would be nice.

Hey there Tish. Yep, luxuries of being husband free I haven't enjoyed in years. He did stay at his cousin's the other night and I got to sleep in my bed without a cover hog. Refreshing but it was too late after work to really enjoy it throughly. I was semi-sleeping when I went to the bathroom...oh well. Why do husbands feel that it is a good time for conversation, do they feel we can't get away?

The showgirls are getting so big. They got to spend some time in the grass yesterday afternoon. They had to do the bounce and fly thing followed by the chest bump. Too cute.
