Well, everything we do is SLOW. We are working on the house in Ashland City so we can more and sell the house in Nashville. Then in the next few years, we should be able to start our NEW house.

No new pens in my future so the metal you have is fine for a LONG time. You don't need to worry about getting me that. I am fine without it.... have been all year. LOL.

Doug is OK. He fell the other day AGAIN and bruised his hip.... has a big lump on his butt. But other wise OK.

HOW ARE YOU?

I'm so sorry I couldn't follow through with getting that roo. When I get back home there won't be one available anywhere, unless of course you still have those two.

I just might at this rate.....LOL.....hope you are back in your house with your chickens and turkeys soon, I can imagine how much you miss them.

Happy anniversary, Sam. I enjoyed looking at your photos from your trip along the Natchez Trace - beautiful countryside!

My Cream Legbar hatch is complete.

I ended up with 2 girls and 3 boys. When I candled the other eggs, they hadn't even started developing - so I'm guessing they probably weren't fertile to begin with. These were the first eggs that were laid. The chicks are as healthy and strong as can be. Really cute, too! I'm planning on putting them on a BYC auction. If any of you are interested, let me know (PM) - my middle TN friends get first dibs on them.

I'll have the auction up later today. Got to let the last one to hatch get dried off and fluffed up - and then get some photos taken first.

Do any of you know if chick shipping boxes are available anywhere around Nashville? I need to get some if I'm going to be hatching chicks to sell.

Boy I wish you had gotten a better mix. I just don't need 3 boys. You will be hatching more? I would rather do 2/2. That would give me anice trio.

Ok....now I have a story....something I think might help all my buds on BYC.....NEVER SAY YOU HAVE SILKIES FOR SALE ON CRAIGS LIST...... I did and got a response from a woman who wanted to get together so she could see my silkies....apparently she didn't read the part that said a rooster and a pullet...or bother to look at the pictures...because even though it was listed under poultry, the rest of her email definitely proved she wasn't talking chickens.

It's funny now but it sure was an eye opener this morning. So now I've learned from my first experience on Craigs List....there are some real wierdos out there!!

I think a bunch of spammers have gotten into Craigslist. The last time I put up an ad (last week), I got an avalanche of emails along the lines of "I'm not interested in what you listed, but since we live near each other, let's get together for a drink." I checked the spam folder in my email and found even more - basically the same message - just worded differently and from different emails. I didn't open any of them - deleted all. Deleted the CL ad, too.

That's why I decided to auction them as a package deal. Most people don't need three boys - so the two girls sweeten the deal. The cream legbar rooster I have is gorgeous, though. Beautiful beautiful birds! A person could always sell or give away the two extra roos - which is easier said than done. However, some folks might want a blue-egg rooster. A Cream Legbar rooster over some EEs would make pretty chicks that would lay blue/green eggs.

I don't know if it's the breed or not - but these chicks hatched the quickest of any I've seen. Once they pipped, it seems they were out of those shells within minutes. Three of them I never saw even a pip - they were completely hatched before I realized they had even started. The other two - I saw a pip - checked back a little later and they were already out and moving around the bator. It just seemed awfully quick to me.
