Well Carol... If I were back at home I'd probably take every one of those chicks off your hands. I've been lurking and waiting to see the outcome of your hatch. Sounds like you obviously got someone's "project" birds, and I'll bet Greenfire has no idea what happens in their own breeder pens. Go figure that some rough cuts would yield a perfect hatch. You've probably gotten someone in trouble, but it sounds worthy if so. I mean if you get some that lay a different color of egg and autosex... wouldn't that be kind of a "niche"? I'd just talk them up as GF and state that they strongly stand behind them and put them all over ebay and BYC!!!
GF will see it and probably contact you to straighten things up.
Make lemonade I guess.

I am actually working on an autosexing Olive Eggers... it will be a little while, but

it works.
What breeds are you working with, Donna, to make your autosexing olive eggers - or is that a secret? Maybe you need some of my olive eggs to help out the project. LOL!

Good idea, Sam! I will set you up with some of the olive and green eggs when you're ready for them. (And Greenfire isn't interested in straightening things up). The more I look at those chicks, though, the more autosexing they look. So I'm going to take your advice and sell chicks and eggs of these unique autosexing olive egg laying Rhodebars. Of course I don't know if these chicks that hatched from the olive eggs will also lay olive eggs. I should've kept several of the chicks rather than putting them all up for auction.

CCL x Blue Cuckoo Marans should work.

The chicks should lay about the same color eggs. If all the pullets lay the same color, the roos probably carry the same thing. NOW it is possible that some chicks would get brown egg genes and some blue egg genes and some BOTH. Olive Eggs are tricky, way too many genes working there.

I have a Blue egg laying cochin project going on.
So far the second gen. chicks looks great. going to hope they keep the blue egg gene.

Its a splash cochin on barred birchen.
half offspring are splash, the other is like a blueish barred.

Well my drama today, I noticed my Splash Pullet from Foley had some feathers hanging down her leg, totally out of place. I thought the roo might have broken her wing..... NOOOOOO he had cut a HUGE gash in her side and I never saw it

It had already dried up and started to heal. I have no idea when it happened. I have been working on eggs for 3 days and hubby has been feeding them

She seems to be ok. We cut the dangling skin and feathers off

It didn't look infected so I just left it alone and MOVED her to a pen so she can rest. DANG ROO

I am going to give her some vitamins too, but I don't know of anything else to do for her.

I had an EE roo that did something similar to a hen, she recovered ok. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?

Let me know if you have any splash cochin pullets you might want to sell.......would love to have one.

I need to know if anyone has a vet they use close to Franklin.....I am sooooooo tired of my girls flying over the run, and this winter I'm afraid they might get really cold if they do that and can't get back in. I want to get their wings clipped for the winter and I"m afraid to do it like I'm afraid to clip my dogs nails.....LOL..... I've watched the videos but would still rather have someone show me on one of them first and then I'll try it......thanks.
