I just had the worst hatch ever! Out of about 70 eggs set, I got 5 chicks! One of the bators (with eggs from my own flock) spiked 102 degrees two different times - and I'm wondering if that killed them. It wasn't at 102 long - and two chicks hatched out of that incubator anyway. But there were 36 eggs in there.

The other bator - with only shipped eggs, the temp stayed evenly at 99-100 - but still only 3 chicks hatched. I blame that on shipped eggs, though. It is still possible that more will hatch - I'll keep both bators going at least one more day, but I"m pretty sure that's it. I can't think of anything different this time - except that 102 spike.

Very discouraged. But - I got 3 lavender araucanas and two EEs.

I had a similar hatch 2 batches ago.... most were shipped eggs, but the hatcher killed several chicks that had already hatched

Awww man that's no good. I was heartbroken over my small amount that didn't make it through the hatch. I hope your chicks are doing well despite a rough hatch

I was just wondering if there is anyone else on here from Wilson County area? Just curious to see how many more backyard chickens there are around my neck of the woods.
