Hi, we live near clarksville, tn and today we came home to 4 of our 6 chickens dead. One is unharmed but now she is all alone. One is still missing. My kids are devastated. They really were pet chickens. Anyway, I am looking for another chicken to keep our one company. She is about 6-8 months old and I was hoping someone here would know where to look. I have checked Craigslist and didn't see anything close. If not I guess we are taking a trip to kentucky tomorrow!

Sounds like a good maremma may be a good idea.... With all the turkey vultures and coyote here in TN, I couldn't raise all my chickens without them.

Whoohoo! I wondered what color she would lay. Yay for eggs!

Honestly I was hoping for blue or green, but I am totally thrilled with the speckles!! I think its original and pretty I love it and I'm just glad she's laying lol. As for the Barred Rocks, they have laid an egg a day since I got them. They are small, but hey at least they're laying. I so love my chickens. Much thanks to you!!

Sorry this happened to you! I live in Clarksville too, right in the 'burbs; I have seen a couple of hawks scoping out my 5 hens too. Maybe my dogs being in their run next to the chicken run has helped, iDK. Do you know what got your birds?

What age/breed are you looking for?

I would love to have a splash, but I am needing to save up some money first lol. Between the food, treats, ACV, and pine the girls are getting expensive. AND I'm gonna need a bigger coop before long hahaha.....chicken math

OMG..that was sooo funny and a great visual in my mind. We have Standard Bronze turkeys and they are soooo mellow that our biggest Tom sat in my lap after the Delta Fair and let children come up and pet him...wonder if mine would freak out about peaches...wonder if it is the color, cause ours really adore watermelon.

so tonight, DH had to rake those terribly threatening over ripe peaches OUT, very Faaaar out and away from the Turkey pen b/f the Bourbon Sisters dared to go in for the night.
I am just shaking my head on this one.

I just got an order for over $700 worth of chicks!!!!!! super excited! I now have 2 customers that are going in the eating egg business so they might keep me busy. one is also my roo guy....win win with him.

I have been kinda down since the auction was so bad but this picked me right up! that is about 6 weeks of feed.....yeah!

I had a bad week anyway. the man that married me and DH was on his deathbed before we got a call. had to rush to GA Sunday night and he died a few hours later. THEN when we got back WE got a call Tuesday that our 87 year old neighbor had died too. his funeral was Thursday and the preachers was Friday so we drove to GA and where almost late to the funeral. visited a bit and drove back. one step forward and one backwards this week.

thanks. it has been really rough on my hubby. he really is going to miss his preacher buddy.
