We are doing well overall Donna. My nextdoor neighbor has the chickens I hatched from your eggs. I plan to get some eggs from them in the spring and try again. The great pyrenees I got to watch them just hangs out over there with them. LOL.
We are pretty much settled back in now, but I'm on my 5th job already this year. I decided after the fire that I wouldn't ever again have a job I hate. So I don't have the pens rebuilt yet. With this "do over" I'm going to get everything right that I didn't like before.
I need to talk to you though about the worms... best way to get started with them. Both the boys have bearded dragons now and I'm buying those things a LOT!

I would get you set up with them but my colony is not doing great. I have not had time to work with them. I am going to get them set up again soon. You can order some from a mail order place. Now might be a good time with the break in the weather. You can get them at the pet store too, but they do take a bit to get going.

Here is a thread on them. Ask them where to buy from this time of the year. They will tell you who NOT to buy from too. Some places will send lots of dead bugs.

Hello everybody!
I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the season so far. I have been sand bagging in the thread for some time. I still haven't gotten set back up with chickens so I don't have much to contribute at the time.
Anyhew, my 11 year old has put turkey eggs on his Christmas list. I'm wondering if any of you know anybody that might sell me some. I'd like to get him 6 or 8 that he could incubate. I work from Kingston Springs to New Johnsonville, but I'll drive anywhere in the mid state to get them for him. This kid doesn't ask for much, so I'm really trying to make this happen for him.

Mail-order eggs usually have a terrible hatch rate. the bigger the eggs, the lower the chance of hatching. ...could set the little fellow up for disappointment.

Yeah chickenman... the turkey eggs don't ship well. I found one guy that has bourbon reds just north of cookeville, but he isn't getting eggs steadily right now. Guess I'll just have to shelf that one and get him some later on after Christmas.

Well I moved and cleaned TONS today. I found out I have only 2 white silkies and BOTH are roos. I have 1 Partridge roo and 2 pullets and a Buff and a Gray pullet... not sure what to do with them...... Put them with the whites?

Paired up the MFL. Move the BLRW to bigger pens so I have 7 pullets with the 2 Blue roos and 2 Splash hens with my Black BLRW roo. Made a growout pen with the Breese. I have 2 roos and 2 pullets. Moved all the WL into one pen. Moved some Marans to make Olive Eggers in the spring and a few SBEL that are Blue and Barred in the the Lav Am roo too for Sex linked EE. Going to pull all the Black Orp pullets maybe friday and put them with a roo. Going to sort all the Choc/Black Wyandottes and put them in a pen. ....... Then I will see what is left LOL. Lots I am sure. But right now I can't see the forest for the trees

Tomorrow I will take it easy. Hubby is going to the Dr. so I will just feed water and collect eggs and put eggs in lockdown. Then off to finish some Christmas shopping.....
