The Middle Tennessee Thread

Thanks DMrippy, that's the link I saved that no longer would function. JC12552, I believe the accountant is getting you to start a business for protection, don't know if it's for taxes or liability, and LLC might help, it should not cause you to have to get a permit-contacting the UT extension that produced the paper in the link might be useful. please follow up with what you decide cause I'm about a year behind you in having enough layers to sell eggs. I'm going to do a NPIP here, when my new chicks are old enough and I have a umbrella policy with my home owners--I don't know if it covers selling farm products for eating.

I asked him why they named it that and he said it was a old game bird recipe someone had found at the library here in town. I don't approve at all but you can drive around lewisburg and see who has fighting chickens.

I was given a couple Guineas and I just bought a bag of whoop'em to feed to them. Do you feed it to all your birds? They said that they didn't know the protein percentage.

Yes we are trying to get some protection from liability (and some tax breaks!). I have had businesses before, have book keeper training, and grew up on a working farm, but if was going to cause problems with the egg license then it would be more trouble than protection.

We haven't done our NPIP yet and I was going to schedule it for May but we might be moving again this summer

due to having to take care of a family member in E. TN.

I never called about an umbrella policy because I hadn't really thought about it.
