She layed up until the summer. Now she just hangs out, I fully expect to find her dead everyday. But so far she's still kicking. But I'm starting to notice she doesn't come back to the coop every night. So then I have to go search for her, all the while with my heart in my throat...
Thanks.... I did kick them out LOL. They walked around the pen today looking like "what are they doing in there?" the little ones would run to the other side for fear of the "BIG ONES" ..... it was entertaining. That is a problem, all my guineas free rage, but a raised them with chickens, so they hung out. If you want the one type to breed, I'd say you need to give them the whole pen, that's because they can can get stressed out pretty easily if too packed in, and stressed birds don't lay.
If you diced to let the others free rang, and there is a tree you'd like them to roost in, make sure to let them go close by to it (not to close) and do it in the evening, not so late to where they can't see, but not light enough to where they think they have time to run off. That's always worked for me, if the tree is nice and tall with room to fly in, they will use it. Though, I've had a lot of hens go missing when it comes time for nesting, they go off in the woods and don't come back.
Hope that helps.![]()
