Soaked.

That would be me, of course. The chickens are safe, dry and enjoying their breakfast.

What a night here! The thunder was so loud at around 3 a.m. that I just got up and checked critters, then went to the computer . . . which I quickly turned off when lightning hit something outside! I believe it knocked out one of my remote cameras, and it seems to have fried the porch outlet. It's too nasty and wet to really take anything apart and check it now, though. I am going to miss watching the back pens on TV today, though!

We had all sorts of little rivers running through the yard and one of the pens this morning. It appears I have not managed to send all the mousies to Valhalla yet - - since one industrious fellow dug a tunnel in and out of the small pen, leaving the perfect space for a rushing canal. Nice! That pen usually stays quite dry in the rain since it is covered, but thanks to our mouse engineer it was an inch deep in running water. I packed the pen with short-cut wheat straw and signed a new declaration of war on the mouse tribe. Despite having good rain gear, I came in soaked after all that! I guess when you have water running up your arms and beating on your face, it's going to sneak in somewhere. Ah well, it's still much better than sitting in an office - - for me, anyway. I'm funny like that.

And now back to chasing starlings away from my bird feeder. Naughty buggers are very persistent this year! The migration came earlier and is staying later than usual.

Everyone stay dry!

Ditto on the water soaked pens Jan! Boy we got a bunch of rain up here! I'm sure it was several inches. I transplanted some daylillies yesrtady so they should set in good. I have all kinds of stuff starting to leaf out, sure hope old man winter doesn't come back. But there was a flock of snow birds in the yard yesterday!
Got my first broody of the year,a turken bantam. Can't wait to get some more.
Stay dry if you can!

I want to be a meteorologist..the only job you don't have to be right.Waht was that? Rain this morning clearing out some before the storms begin...we had nearly 3" this morning and it hasn't stopped yet.Our poor birdies hate this weather. My new house is staying mostly dry..the rain has figured out how to get past the drainage system in a small spot but no one is willing to go out and see why right now...floor is wet but not standing water. Still have to move my tiny fluff out and then they will all be outside
Jenski-I'm driving by your house..or can on Monday on my way to Nashville. If you still want cookies and or eggs give me a shout

Sorry friends - this rain is probably our fault.....

Every single time my sister in law comes down from Ohio it rains ~ she arrived at 3pm yesterday!

Thank goodness I didn't remove all the straw from the floor of the chicken pen yesterday, eh?

I love the sound of the creek, but I think we've had enough now! My girls are outside, scratching around all wet and bedraggled. They're laying well though; had 2 eggs by 8am and have been averaging 3 a day with just 5 hens. I can't get used to the idea that my baby (born Aug 2) is no longer a pullet ~ my little girl is all grown up!

Jenski Jenski Please tell us all is fine. That tornado was playing too close to you last night. My mother lives in downtown Lebanon so I was on the phone calling her as it was heading straight for her house. We spared all damage other than a brief power outage and a very scared big dog that had just caught that black and white puddy cat a few hours before so my oldest let her in the house.Wow does my house stink

I hope everyone is well today and everyone was spared.....I know we had a tornado watch in Coffee co until 1am....I got up at some point in the middle of the night it was thundering...the weather radio went nuts last night...the ride to work this morning was very windy on the interstate....there was only one tree down in Smyrna this morning...but the city took care of that....again hope all is well

We have lots of damage in our County. We never like work because of Mother Nature but it seems to happen every Year.Got to thinking though
Jenski will report in soon fine..if she had tornado damage we would be looking at her house on the news this morning Jen standing outside in her big ol boots holding onto her baby that she found hiding
hugs.gif
...that monster high school is in her back yard-literally so any severe damage in the area would be all over the news.
