Although I was advised against it, when I got my day-old chicks the same day I got my three-week olds, I put them together in the same brooder, and they have done great from the beginning. They sleep all piled up together and the little ones are thriving. Don't know if it would work for you, but it sure turned out well for me.

And I meant to add - I watched them carefully at first to make sure the little ones wouldn't be mistreated by the older ones. I also had a brooder big enough that I had the heat lamp at one end and they had plenty of room to get away from the heat if needed. The brooder is in our garage which stays really warm anyway even though it's not heated.

What Carol said. I mix mine right on in together (but keep and eye and an ear open for trouble). So far it has been great. My favorite part is watching the tiny babies try to dive up under the bigger babies when something spooks them.

It depends on who wants to come play. We usually do the Boro, but we could totally do one in Franklin this time if it works better for everyone. I am open to suggestions. We could also meet up at a park so we can bring birds to trade. What do y'all want to do? Do we want Saturday or Sunday?

Hey there CityGirl and all our fellow Mid-TN chicken folks! Glad to hear you are trying to put together another meet this weekend. . . and bummed I can't make it. The new job is really busy - - but fun.

Hope you all are doing well and enjoying all the chicks that are hatching! It's nice to read all the updates.

Have a good one!

I have been told its OK to put chicks together that are up to 3 weeks apart, but that that is about the limit, any wider age difference can be bad....glad its working well for you!
