The Middle Tennessee Thread

Sorry it took so long to reply Anne but I use the on line keyboard and wireless mouse to type. Yes there is maybe two dozen or so black feathers sprinkled among the white. Her lineage does not matter my wife claimed her as a chick she will live her life out here. The black pullet is the same bird in all the pictures., as are the other three. How long before they try to crow? I spend several hour every day in and around the barn and so far, not even seen them posturing let alone trying to crow. Thanks for the help in advance, the more I know in advance the more enjoyment I get when it happens.

It didnt come cheap. LOL.
Right now I believe he is out of SLW. If he sells anymore it will be later in the fall when he culls down to a few breeders or some for show. I think he still has some BLRW pairs still available.
Oh i think he has abunch of chocolates too.

Are you breeding them ot are they just for a backysrd flock?_

Soroco- can you get a close up of the white one for me? I'd love to see her better. I've been waffling over hatching some of that blend and just haven't gotten around to it. Interesting. Glad you wife likes her. :)

I've found that the young AM boys are reactionary crowers. They crow earlier when there are other roosters around. Left to their own devices though they are late crowers. I sold one to one lady and I think he was 10 months or older before the crowing started. She thought that she had the world's only non-crowing rooster. I told her that we would make a fortune breeding him for city folks wanting a quiet rooster! :) All of that to say that I have no idea when he'll crow. I have some about that same age and they are just now starting to tune up.

That dark blue ends up being a fabulous looking rooster. That may be my favorite color on the boys. It's just striking. I'm sorry both of the AMs ended up being boys though. I think I have one more AM pullet available if you are interested. I'm pretty sure she's a girl. She's blue also. :)

Keep me posted on what that white girl looks like. If she is true to form with my splashes she should add more black spots as she molts.

I use a vicks cool mist vaporizer in my coop and it does seem to work...every morning the windows are just a tad damp...I just set it in the floor and plug it in...if it as settings like how much you want the fog to come out you just have to play around with it for a few nights and see what goes through the air the best...I have mine set in the middle and it very lightly fogs and goes up in the air...I tried full force but the fog was too heavy and would fall right back down.
