A friend of my wife's had bought some chicks at a feed store. They did not make it through the night (no fault of hers) and she took them back to the feed store and explained to the guy that they had all died and asked for a refund. He said, "They aren't dead....they're just sleeping."
Luckily she was a quick wit and shot back, "Of course they're dead. Can't you see the X's over their eyes?"

What are some other nitwit comments you've had from people?

Myths, misnomers, plain ol' ignorance, etc.? Not to pick on feed stores, but I've heard about some doozies coming from some of the less knowledgeable employees.

I'm still thinking, but in the mean time, remember the Monty Python skit where the man wants a refund because his parrot died? The shop owner didnt' want to give him his money back and maintained that the parrot was just sleeping... sounds hilariously similar to your recent event!

Will the rooster lay eggs too?

Asked by a 43 yr old woman.

Silkiefan, I had totally forgotten about the Monty Python sketch. Yes, from what my wife's friend said it was just about like that! Not to highjack my own post, but here is the parrot sketch Silkiefan mentioned:

I just had a lady pick up some hatching eggs from me. She made the statement "so I just take thesehome and they will hatch into chicks" I saidwell you have to incubate them for 21 days she said " what is that" I said keep them warm. She then said " you mean like in the oven" I said, without trying to laugh, no in an incubator. This lady had a lot of those really "smart" questions. I have mixed feeling about the situation. Part of me hopes she doen't hatch any and part of me does. Scary to think how she will keep the chicks warm!

Well, you know the looks you get when people like store eggs over fresh ones. Then comments on how cruel it is to kill your own chickens so you can eat and not starve LOL....Chickens give you lice....Chickens are nasty.....

This goes in the funny category...

I gave my BFF some eggs and some of them were blue and green. She took them to her neice (age 4) and helped her make them for breakfast...her neice cried when they cracked them in the pan because she thought that Auntie ruined them cuz they werent blue anymore...lol.

Cracked me up
