The most dumb / ignorant / funny comment you've had about chickens?

Had a 10 yr old visiting one day and offered to show him the 'chickens.' I pointed out the hens & roosters. He looks at me and asks ... 'so where are the chickens?'

Sorry to break topic,but it reminded me of an old horse tader friend of mine Carl. He bought a horse that died the next day. He called the fella he bought it from,and told him. That fellas responce was" Hum,he never did that before". Needless to say Carl never got his money back.

Had a conversation with my Grandpa a couple weeks ago. He insists that white eggs come from white chickens, brown eggs come from brown chickens and that's the only kind of chickens there are. He said a chicken of a different color was not a "pure" chicken, whatever that means. And he also insisted that not only were the eggs different on the outside - they are different on the inside. That the white eggs will have lighter yolks than the brown eggs. There was no convincing him otherwise-even with the evidence right in front of him. So I just decided to agree with him and let it go, but he wouldn't let me! I didn't know how to escape the conversation.

From an elderly employee at a Feed Store, who was giving me advice after I told him I was new to chickens;

"Now, every now and then your hens might lay a VERY SMALL egg, and if you let it hatch, you will get a VERY SMALL chicken called a "Banty"..........." (!!!)

Tried to politely state that I believe standards and banties are two whole different breeds and/or sizes, but he was having none of it from newbie me... He felt bad for me, I think!
