(2/19/2013) Chapter 27: Big Bad Wind

Today, the wind was blowing strongly, you could hear small snaps as tree branches fell to the ground. You could see Lady Scarlet's and Sir Prince's manes blowing fiercly as they galloped around their paddock.

The Buffingtons had been let out that morning, as it had been much warmer and prettier than normal. But now, the Buffingtons were cold! They went into their coop and tried to get warm. Why couldn't the heater turn on now? They heard footsteps, TLG! They eagerly ran to her. She knelt on the ground and talked to them, smoothing down their feathers gently. Miss Hershey eagerly hopped onto her leg, but in the middle of her flight to TLG, the wind blew faster. She fell down with a SMACK. TLG gasped and quickley picked Miss Hershey up and put her inside her coat. Lady Hershey snuggled in.

The wind whipped at Sky and Eggnog's feathers harshly.

How annoying. TLG picked up their waterer, and took it inside. then she called for them to come in. The Buffingtons sadly looked behind them at the wreckage... Then slowly walked inside, where TLG turned the heater on and collected the eggs. "I'm so sorry," She said. Then closed the door and walked out of the pen. there, she stared at the wreckage:

All of TTG's hard work!

Then, something horrible happened to TLG when she went to give Sir Prince and Lady Scarlet some hay. There are some two-by-fours, hanging around in the barn, TLG's parents used it for a blockage when the horses started putting their heads over the stall and eating large chunks out of the hay bales, but now the hay was out of reach, so they just piled it against the wall.

When TLG opened the door, the wind blew extra strong, and a board fell over and nearly smacked her head!

Oh, so glad TLG wasn't hurt!

I have that same dog house! I used it for a broody coop. I put an old reclaimed cupboard door on hinges and a lock to close it up tight at night. Has been used for the first chickens I ever own, to brooding mamas, starting meat birds, and now another mama is in it with her chicks! SO light to pick up and move on my own too!

Anyway! Glad no on blew away!

Aww, I wish my chickens would hop up on me! (Well, the rooster used to hop on our heads, but we made him stop)
It's sweet that they trust me so much, but when you get a Chipmunk on your head, an Eggnog and a Sky on your back, and a Hershey and Q on your thighs... It isn't all rainbows and butterfllies :p

lol, if you get some wind, you'd better batten down the hatches. (or however you spell that)

Me too, I was glad there was a top on the coop, or chipmunk would have been gone xD
