The Never Ending Story Of The Buffingtons

Chapter 28: Certified Ant Killers... NOT.

Today, TLG was watching TV, when she heard a yell. She ran into the kitchen. "THERE ARE ANTS IN THE KITCHEN!" Her sister, TOLG (The Older Little Giant) shrieked. TLG looked. There were more than FIFTY ants crawling all over the kitchen! There was only one thing to do. TLG ran outside to the coop and gently grabbed Miss Hershey. "Okay, I've got a job for you girl." She said. She brought her into the house and set her on the ground. "Okay," she said, "You can do it girl!" Miss Hershey Looked around and clucked.

It was decided that she would do better with Lady Chipmunk by her side.

Miss Hershey found their cousins: The Duckingtons.

TLG decided to let them meet, Lady Chipmunk and Miss Hershey were very calm.
Then, THIS happened:
Poor Miss Hershey! After doing this twice, Tyger walked up to Lady Chipmunk (I WISH I HAD GOTTEN THIS ON VIDEO!), and opened her beak and threatened her. Lady Chipmunk flared up and lunged at her. Tyger leaped back. Lady Chipmunk didn't touch Tyger, but she learned a lesson. "Respect your elders... especially if they know how to fight..."

No one ate any ants, so TLG's family will have to put down poison. Oh Well.

Chapter 29: The Buffingtons in Egg Form

Today is Easter! Yay! The Buffingtons' second Easter! This year, TLG did something neat with the eggs.

Lady Eggnog:

Miss Q:

Lady Sky:

Miss Hershey:

And Lady Chipmunk (Yes, she looks like Miss Hershey in egg form):

TLG also made one of cousin Apollo:

Chapter 30: Broody Hen

"Have you noticed Hershey walking around?" TWG asked TLG.
"No," TLG said, "Why?"

"She was sitting strangely in the nest box," TWG said.
TLG thought of the day before Easter, she had been preparing to go on an egg hunt with her friend, but had given the chickens a scoop of feed first. Miss Hershey had been sitting on the nest box, laying an egg. When she got back from the hunt to check on them, she was still sitting there.
TLG raced to the door and grabbed her coat. She slipped on a pair of flip flops, and raced into the cold air. Thoughts ran through her mind, broken leg, sprained back, avian influenza! It could be any of those! She rushed out, and was greeted by this:

She reached her hand out to Miss Hershey, and attempted to pet her. Miss Hershey made a sound that could only be described as a hiss, and it all clicked in TLG's mind. Laying in the nest box without coming out, hissing... there was only one explanation. Miss Hershey was broody!
TLG raced back inside, and informed TWG and TTG of this. TTG went outside and examined her for himself. It was decided that Miss Hershey was, in fact, broody.
When TWG heard this, and learned what it meant, she said: "Why don't we put her in a box with the chicks when they come?"

I'm sure I don't have to tell you all why this is a bad idea.
