The Never Ending Story Of The Buffingtons

Chapter 14: The Buffingtons' Snow Day

Yay! It snowed six inches last night! However, the sun melted most of the snow, so it was just really cold.

It was so cold, that The Buffingtons had to turn their heater on high so they wouldn't get too cold.

The Buffingtons also put Electrolytes in their water.

The Buffingtons decided to have some warm pop corn and cranberries to celebrate it being almost Christmas.

The Buffingtons thought it was delicious, and fought over the colorful cranberries.

Everyone was able to get food from the plate, except little Chipmunk. She had to make do with little bits of pop corn and cranberry that the bigger chickens dropped.

The Buffintons had a very nice day, and they never left their house!

I sure hope you have that heater secured better, or it has a tip sensor so if it falls, it doesn't start a fire. I personally would make a chicken wire cage to keep it from getting hit by rambuncious birds...

Haven't tried cranberries. Do you cook them a bit so they soften?

We're working on a plan that involves a couple of wooden boards right now, and yes, it does have a tip sensor. he wire idea is great, I think I might try that.

I didn't cook them this time, but that sounds like a terrific idea.

Chapter 15: The Long Winter

Even though it had only been a little while since winter started, the Buffingtons were already missing summer. They Missed playing in their chicken tractor, eating strawberries, having the little giant run outside in her strawberry colored nightgown and muck boots to visit them. But, winter is also a lot of fun.

Hershey and Chipmunk enjoy snuggling, even though it's perfectly warm thanks to their new heater. (Thank you for your concern, but it is secured, and covered.) And, of course, everyone loves eating their giant treat block.

Even though the pipes have frozen, the Buffingtons always have clean water. (Even if I have to clean it out with my frozen bare hands.)

Unfortunately, their days of cracked corn is gone. Now that people have started putting poison in some brands. (I'll give you a link, it's some scary stuff) But, they distract themselves with their regular feed.
Every now and then, the Buffingtons will be walk into the cold, cold yard. The first ones to go out are Skye and Q.

Next out is Chipmunk, Hershey briefly walks around, but soon returns.

Eggnog stands in the doorway, but is too nervous to come out.
