I have admired your birds for quite some time. I just got lucky. I live near one of the best breeders of black bantam Cochins in the country but he rarely sells any of his birds. Never eggs and never chicks. I got a pair from him and lost the roo and have been working with just the hen who almost never lays. Makes for a very slow project. I won't buy any blacks that aren't great since they are so popular. And honestly $50 for that many chances is worth it.

We are all super lucky to have the opportunity to buy and sell eggs here (and on BYC) that just would not be possible in any other situation.

For buyers it a great place to pick up some wonderful eggs. For some it is the only opportunity they would have to get the quality that is being offered. This may mean Keeping chicks indoors over winter, and lower hatch rates. That is why it is the low season.

It is very generous of the sellers to share their eggs, and when things are slow due to time of year it can be a good place to get some $$, even it they are sold way below value. Especially if the alternative is feeding them back to the birds.

For others it is fun to see eggs that would be egg salad hatch, and see everyones excitement about it.
