The new (human) baby thread...

I would personally prefer the longer 3 days, but it just depends on what you like. I like to work longer shifts and have more days off.

I haven't noticed any difference in Wyatt since he started daycare when he was 5 months old. I've been passing him around to different people since he was a few weeks old though, so he's kind of use to that. I prefer for him to not be scared when he's with other people, so I try to expose him to as much as possible. He LOVES his daycare and goes crawling away from me when we get there. At home he's super clingy and I can't leave the room without him screaming.

Plus I feel like it's good for him b/c the teacher only has him and 3 other kids, so he gets a lot of one on one time and she spends a lot of time teaching them, whereas when I'm home al day with him I just get frustrated that I can't get anything done, which isn't good for either of us.

No a/c?!

Ugh. I hate cold weather, but I don't think I could live without a/c either...

You work 14 hour shifts? GRACIOUS!!

I take it you work for an emergency animal hospital? Must be stressful... you definitely need to be able to sleep after those hours!

Yes, emergency medicine. I absolutely love my job, but the hours suck. Saturdays are 20-hr shifts, but I try not to work them if I can help it. And since I'm Chief of Staff I get to make the schedule.

I am considering going part time to days and cutting back my night hours, but we'll see how it goes.

20 hour shifts?? Heavens to Betsy, I'd die! I've been a full time SAHM for over 14 years. Just thinking of working again stresses me out, but the stinky economy seems to be dictating this decision, not so much me... it's getting VERY hard to live on one income now, especially as my other kids get older. The older they get the more they cost! When I worked I was a phlebotomist who was thinking of going into nursing, but we decided to have more children instead. If I do go back to work I'm going to have to take a refresher course and get certified again. The good thing is there is a lot of variety and shifts in the field, so hopefully I can find something to fit my wants/needs. We'll see...

Awww, look how much older he looks now... not bigger, just older.

He sure is a cutie, even if he doesn't want to let his mommy sleep!

Alright mommy's with babies over the age of 9 months, it's time to ditch the baby monitors. Seriously, we were getting up with Ethan if he even whimpered because we heard every sound he made on the monitor. He started getting in the terrible habit of waking up every night. We finally turned the monitor off (he's just across the hall from us) so we can't hear him unless he is all out crying. The result... uninterrupted SLEEP for several months now!! If ya can't turn your monitors off, at least turn them down real low.

He is 16.5 pounds now and just starting to fill out the 6-9 month clothes. He is getting there

He started pulling up at 9months and now is taking steps while holding on to my hand. I never had one try walking this young...mine are late bloomers.

That sounds wonderful, but the crib is still in my room.

He will bunk with the boys in a few months or once he starts sleeping at night. I think the younger boys are too young to sleep in the bedroom down stairs so they will share a room with the baby when he is old enough.
Robin, I bet you little Ethan is running all over the place

Oh, well that may explain a lot. He is probably waking up during the night because he's in the room with y'all... does anyone snore? Have you tried using a small fan in the room, for the white noise? Of course, the only problem with that is then he (and y'all) may become addicted to it. My DH and I used to have neighbors with dogs that barked ALL NIGHT LONG. We've been addicted to our little fan for about 18 years now...

Anywho, no, Ethan isn't running all over the place. In fact, he took his very first hands-off step today! My oldest son walked around 1 year old. The other two were 13 and 15 months old before they started. Ethan will be 14 months on Sunday and it looks like he's going to fill the gap between his brothers!
