The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

sean, or i have a question for you since you've been breeding birds for a while, why when you set eggs in a incubator do the eggs hatch different days instead of all on the same day? my hatch was due wed and thurs, had two hatch on tues, two on wed and one thur and today three with another just broke into the air bubble
or anyone who may know:idunno all eggs set on same day and time
Are hens incubating them a bit before you collect them? Or is your egg storage place so warm that incubation is starting up?

With that big of a spred of hatch time... that would be my guess.

i don't think the hens are setting a bit, only have three hens laying, two pullets and one last years hatch hen, all three lay late in the afternoon so pick them up when we feed in the evenings, if we feed to early, they haven't laid yet. the egg storage is close to the air cond., not real close but close enough that they would be cool i think. i just don't understand why there would be that big of a gap, :idunno but you can be sure i never throw anything out til i know for sure that it isn't going to hatch
thanks cap and alaskan for the help:hugs

yes it does, depends on what part of the state on how much, but the northern states get much more than the southern, even florida get snow in the panhandle, i admit not much but sometimes , i first saw snow in florida when i was eight, never saw it again (of course i wasn't back in the winter til 2013) til 2014, even then it was more of a tiny little ball instead of a flake
When I was 10 we went to visit my grandparents who lived in St. Petersburg (FL, not Russia). My mom packed mittens as a joke. We were them. It snowed.

ETA that was Jan 77
