The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Baby hatched successfully and I'll try and get a photo today of the size difference. It's a very active, chatty, calm baby - very different to the one that didn't make it.

We thankfully didn't get any trick or treaters here. Halloween is creeping into New Zealand, only because retailers want to sell more stuff. We did have a neighbour across the road letting off fireworks though! He started when it was still light! At least none of our animals are worried by them. It's still annoying though. He stores them up and lets a few off every now and again, despite the fact that he shouldn't.

Yay, a new baby!

Are fireworks legal where you are J? It varies from place to place here in the States. Glad your animals weren't nervous about them.

Most places in California do not allow any fireworks. Woodland and Yolo County allow safe and sane fireworks during a one week window before July 4th. Bottle rockets for example are illegal.

We still get a lot of that though--comes from Mexico and some southern States

Unless the laws have changed since I moved from the midwest, Kansas had the 1 week rule same as Ron's 2 counties but Missouri could sell them year round. A lot of those MO fireworks made it to the NE counties in KS where I lived (and I admit, I was responsible for a few of those ;)).

Love the 4th of July and you just have to have fireworks for that!

They are still legal but there has been a push for many years to ban them. I don't know why people bother with the rubbish ones you can buy when you can go to public displays and see all the beautiful one (here they can only sell to the public fireworks that don't get airborne and they are usually all bang and not a lot of sparkle). They can only be sold between 2-5 November so that's something at least. Not my favourite time of year especially with nervous finches on eggs.

I can see where that would be a problem with the finches.

Fireworks are illegal here in Massachusetts, even on 4th of July. But of course people ignore that. I think they are legal in New Hampshire. So of course some sneak down here.

We used to set them off but haven't in years. But we have a big, private yard.

But we always got ours from Pennsylvania when we would visit my grandparents. There was a giant fireworks store nearby lol

Here in the states, at least as far as I know, most fireworks are legal. Like you can buy the in air ones, though of course they do sell the sparklers and ground ones. We used to buy this one called the mug sometimes it was awesome. It was like a fountain haha

I prefer professional displays too though (although I don't even really go anymore, they can be kinda boring) but fireworks are just FUN and sometimes it's cool to shoot them off.

Gets old when people do it the whole week up to or even week after 4th or July lol memorial day too
