Congrats on ninja chicks.

I also think you will be coming home to more.

Awesome! MY boys are really really big, momma keeps saying she wants them to use their "big boy powers" for good... I have other ideas

Had I pipped the eggs this morning, I would have been able to save more... maybe even a dozen!

At lunch I pipped all the eggs. Saved at least 4. I pipped one, removed the shell over the airsac region, it started chirping,
I removed the membrane around the head, wrapped it in some warm wet paper towel, put it in the brinsea and with in 20 minutes it was out of the paper towel and shell and running around the egg cartons. The other three were similar, just not as dramatic, I could see where they had pipped the shell, they just couldn't break through.

So, I ended up with a Grand Total of 38. Much better than the 21 I thought I would get. I hope I get more pullets this time!! ( I also have two more in the bator that might make it)

Had I candled and pipped them sooner, I would have had close to 50 I'm sure...

BUT... I suppose we should breed chickens that can pip themselves... Then I kept thinking about what Laree said... "What if you caused it".. so I saved as many as I could.

IT'S POURING RAIN HERE RIGHT NOW!!

They truly are BEAUTIFUL chicks. Once I get my laptop back or any laptop, I'll take pics and post.

I got about 6 that are almost WHITE... I'm guessing those are my blues or splash. I got a number that are REAL yellow with black dots on their head and ONE that had feathers on it's leg. I'll be contacting the breeder.

Thanks for all the positive vibes, prayers and kind thoughts and words of encouragement. That means a lot.

Well, I have some beautiful chicks and I am grateful.

I got thinking, I would have needed to buy another brooder box and lamp if any more had hatched.

Last time with 38 (sold 3 right of the bat), I WAS BUSY. So I know every spare minute is going to be with these chicks.

I've been promised my laptop by Monday. We'll see. Just about to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Sometimes I hate technology, but even though this one is a dinosaur, I'm still communicating.

Thanks again. as soon as I can get something to upload pics at less than dino speed, I'll be back.

39 with one iffy. If it survives, it will be a miracle.
10 are very white down. (Blue or Splash Wheatens)

The WI chicks are HUGE!

I ended up breaking open a LOT of eggs at lunch.

One I did in because it hadn't pipped the membrane yet. SHOOT> But I saved some. Wished I would have started pipping some of them 12 hours earlier. I might have killed a couple in the process, but I also might have save some. What I hated was to open it and see that it had pipped the membrane and then died.

So now you've got Icelandics,

I haven't seen a pic of the Silkie Ams in a while

What did you end up with 2 roos and a pullet?

You can use those roos over Black Am hens you know!!... then breed the Blue Siblings to one another... or the daddy to the offspring.

... and viola... you should have some BLUE Silkie Ams. Once you've got some blues you are on your way.

The Silkied Am .... 2 roos and 1 pullet. I have 10 black and 10 blue Ameraucanas from Paul Smith just a couple weeks old. (He ran out of black, so I got half blue). I have 4 Lavender Ameraucanas that are older. Those are all I have to work with.

28 eggs from Peachick (Kathy) at first candle 23 eggs remain. (these were all in the hovabator... so I still have 82% of hers... not bad at all!

HATCHED 12

34 eggs from Wayne Meredith at first candle 31 eggs remain. I actually have a few left to candle that are in the Cube bator tomorrow.

HATCHED 14... 15 if the iffy one lives

18 eggs from pasofinofarm (Melissa) at first candle 11 eggs remain. 5 clear and two quitters that were most likely scrambled. 61% but to be fair she warned me about a fertility issue with one of the hens, and I don't know why, but I've always felt the P.O. there treats them a tad rougher than most.

HATCHED 4

My eggs
1 GC Maran (should be pure) candle tomorrow DIED
3 BWA X BBL Polish (Policauna.. ) candle tomorrow GOT TWO... one might be a BWA X Ancona
3 BWA X Salmon Faverolle (Salwheatenacauna ) 1 egg remains. Her back is the barest and two were clear ???????? ONE! but looks like a ROO.
1 BWA X Black Star . Still there! HATCHED!
7 BWA X W/BWA from my coop. I won't be able to sort out this total till tomorrow but I lost 1 of these at this candle. a quitter 3 are good and the other three are in the cube. 5 of these hatched two I took out of the Incubebator... the eggs were very blue and I really wanted them to hatch.
