Had I pipped the eggs this morning, I would have been able to save more... maybe even a dozen!
At lunch I pipped all the eggs. Saved at least 4. I pipped one, removed the shell over the airsac region, it started chirping,
I removed the membrane around the head, wrapped it in some warm wet paper towel, put it in the
brinsea and with in 20 minutes it was out of the paper towel and shell and running around the egg cartons. The other three were similar, just not as dramatic, I could see where they had pipped the shell, they just couldn't break through.
So, I ended up with a
Grand Total of 38. Much better than the 21 I thought I would get. I hope I get more pullets this time!! ( I also have two more in the bator that might make it)
Had I candled and pipped them sooner, I would have had close to 50 I'm sure...
BUT... I suppose we should breed chickens that can pip themselves... Then I kept thinking about what Laree said... "What if you caused it".. so I saved as many as I could.
IT'S POURING RAIN HERE RIGHT NOW!!
They truly are BEAUTIFUL chicks. Once I get my laptop back or any laptop, I'll take pics and post.
I got about 6 that are almost WHITE... I'm guessing those are my blues or splash. I got a number that are REAL yellow with black dots on their head and ONE that had feathers on it's leg. I'll be contacting the breeder.
Thanks for all the positive vibes, prayers and kind thoughts and words of encouragement. That means a lot.
