I cant believe no one has said this yet: ospreys. They mostly eat fish but they will eat other animals besides fish if there arent enough around.

Thank you for that. We had a Osprey nest toward the back of our property this past summer (hopefully the bird doesn't return this year when they migrate back north!) We lost 3 hens in 4 weeks to unknown predators. Suspected a hawk, opossum & fox based on "crime scene" evidence. Now I'm suspicious of the Osprey. One of the hens remains were found under the tree the Osprey nest was in... hmmmm... could be coincidence. Not quite sure.

Even gophers steal eggs. I have this troublesome gopher snake who eats my hens eggs if I'm not watching
