The Old Folks Home

Just got back from retrieving the Horse trailer from my friend. 95 degrees no AC Face masks on when in town... Needless to say I am not used to this any more.

Thank goodness the woman who parks up against my truck by inches wasn't here.. I took about two feet of her precious space. Plenty of room for her to park... Neener neener.

Feeling good Legs are happy of all things. Still complaining but normal complaints from inactivity. Charly horse keeps threatening in my left calf. My truck is a stick and the clutch is pretty stiff, set up for hauling heavy loads.

Guy called yesterday and we are getting close to ordering plywood, and lumber. Floor joists are rotted in some areas. They have to block in for the new floor as we.. Hes replacing all the insulation below the floor because its in nasty shreds.

I am SOO happy :wee happy happy happy... Ieven got color swatches yesterday..

I think deciding on color is going to be the most difficult after picking the flooring. Oh while I was at Lowes yesterday I bought a small hammer drill. To take out the salcito tile on the fireplace. Its porous and when it breaks the edges are like glass. Its on the floor too but I suspect when they take up the floor there the tile will go with. Been wanting a small hammer drill for a while now.

its all part of the floor rehab. once the new sub floor goes in I can do Cement board and redo the Stand for the pot belly. Or a new potbelly. I would love to have one that will take a full length of firewood. As it is I cant bank the fire for the night. Or I don,t know how.

I know the first never happened... the second might have.

There are initials carved into many house surfaces...

One child tried to make a fire in the toy room.... on the carpet....

There were some other fires near the fireplace..

At least half of the silverware ended up outside in the sandbox and chicken coops...

One kid lost a very expensive diamond ring... never found that

Bouncing marble took out the glass front of the range

They did try to dig to China, which was fine... but then they decided to make horizontal tunnels at the bottom, I nixed that... no collapsing tunnels killing my kids thank you...

Had one baby stick a paperclip into an outlet, tripped the fuse

Oh, that trouble maker kid 4 trimmed the hair from my fantabulous bull hide, for bird nests. (He thought the hair would grow back)

Kid 3 has a scar on his wrist, from when he locked plastic handcuffs on his wrist... didn't want to ask for help, and used a saw to saw them off...

I could go on... but I think the really "good stuff" I have blocked from memory.
They sound like typical Alaskan Boys to me!

Did he paint the car with green handprints or put nails under the tires of the car ? If so he sounds like my grandson - who is becoming a wonderful person. He just celebrated his four year 'anniversary' with his girlfriend - they are 17 years old. :he He's the youngest of my grandkids and the only one in a long term relationship. SMH We really love his girlfriend, but what are the chances ??????
I met DH when I was 17. Fall of 1974. Still together.

Two of my mom’s siblings met their spouse when they were in high school, they were high school sweethearts, and both are still married.

My cousin (who is actually the daughter of one of them) met her husband I think sophomore year of high school at a dance or something and they were together for like 9 or 10 years before they finally got married like 7, 8 years ago.

They did have a brief period in college, like a semester I think, where they saw other people but they both knew it wasn’t right and that they were meant to be together and got back together. Now they have two kids, the first is almost 4 years old now.

So it can definitely work out, even with younger people.

One of my other cousins is currently dating a girl and he was talking last time we saw him about how he really loves her and thinks she’s “the one” and stuff and was asking the other cousin I just mentioned when they knew, etc. He’s a senior in high school. So I think if you know, you know, no matter what age you are.

But then again my brother dated a girl for like 8 years, starting in like sophomore year just like my cousin, and all through college and everything and they still ended up breaking up. I’m not really sure why.

But so it definitely doesn’t always work but I think you can kind of tell when you’re meant to be with someone or you meet your “soulmate” or whatever.

You just never know!

Saw something about kids today really made me think. Always hear about kids today, I've seen and dealt with some horrible one's at work, untrainable...
Our oldest doing great, hopefully the rest follow. It's not the kids today, it's the parents.
