The Old Folks Home

Howdy folks!

It's a little cooler here today, only 92 right now. It was 93 earlier. We've spent the day watching for the UPS truck to come. I ordered vaccines for the dogs, Parvo, Lepto from Jefferspets.com and didn't want them to sit out in the sun. They were room temp when I unwrapped them so into the refrigerator they went. I'll start vaccinating tomorrow.

Other than that I've stayed in most of the day. Froze another quart of tomatoes and green beans. My second planting of beans is doing well in spite of the heat. No break in sight till the weekend for us here. Our poor Air Conditioner is struggling to keep up.

@CapricornFarm! Yikes! We have copperheads here. I've never seen one thank goodness but they say they are in the timber. I found a fresh dead ribbon snake a few days ago. (lawn mower victim) Pretty thing. Iridescent blue with black stripes the length of it's body. It was well over a foot long and as big around as a pencil. I gave it to the chooks. They squawked and squeaked around it until they figure out it was fresh protein.

And yes, there is a big bowl of squash seeds and goo in the fridge for them tonight.

I don't know what I'd do if I saw a copperhead, though.
Get a good sharp shovel.

Ups here has a tracker that will show me where the truck is on a map!

When it works. One time the truck looked like it was in a parking lot for a long time...and then a UPS truck showed up with the delivery! The truck with the tracker broke down and they did not move the tracker to the new truck!
I wasn't able to do the map tracker for some reason. All it would show me was the delivery time, Somewhere between 2:45 and 4:45. So naturally it showed up a little after 4.

One time when the tracker was actually working it showed the truck was about three roads away from us. Nope, it was parked at the end of our driveway.

Oops.

Today I went to check to see if there were chicks in the nest box. There was a four foot long snake! It had three suspicious lumps in its' belly. And my lovely frizzle Calico bantam cochin hen had been killed by the snake! Mad as a hornet, I am! Really super tired of snakes.

I was devastated when I found my chooks gone and my hen dead. Same day I had the stroke. Be careful about getting steamed, I know it's hard, but you have to take care of yourself too!

How ya feeling, Cap? Haven't seen you around much.
Very tired. I can't get a handle on the mites here. I have been washing chickens, cleaning coops, and spraying chemicals. It's going to take me forever to get all of them done. Some time ago I decided to sell about half of the chickens. Just spending too much of my life doing chores. It gets tedious.
I have decided to get back to creating my ceramic pieces.
Saturday I sold 11 chickens, and later that day a guy backed into my truck. So that needs repair again. So much stress!
Hubby is leaving on vacation at 2:30 in the morning tonight. Driving to NS to visit his relatives.

Have you tried elector?

The breeder I used to incubate eggs for could not get rid of mites until using it:
