The Old Folks Home

Good Morning OF. Already got the rest of Roxy's park, Serendipity Plains and the berm done. My part is done. The county can get out here and do the right of way. All of it this time. Let their men whack weeds down with a weed eater where the tractors with bush hogs can't get to.
My county has been a bit lax this year and good morning old folks. Hope you all have a good day.

The county wants to re-gravel our road, and needs a place to turn around. So we said they could use a spot on our property if it will work. They came out, looked, and must have deemed it acceptable, because they mowed it. I might go out and rake up some thatch, as there is a LOT of it there.

It's also about 85 and 90% relative humidity out there now. The temp is only going to rise, and even though the rh might fall, it's just going to feel worse. So maybe I won't.

All that free thatch there... but it might be full of weed seeds... Decisions, decisions.

The thing is, there is a culvert that runs under the road which allows the swamp across the road to drain... right on to my property. It sticks pretty much to where there is a small channel dug out, then jumps the small bank and floods the SE corner of my property that I haven't gotten cleared yet. I can't do a longer trench even with a back hoe until I get the jungle removed.. But back to the culvert. The slope is steep on either side of it, and since I have been here they have never cleaned it up. I've done it the last couple of years, but I decided after the stroke that keeping up with my land was priority for me. Now this year even the tractors with the bush hogs are leaving more area around the culvert untouched. Must be a new driver that is askeerd of getting too close or something. He hasn't got the brains to stop, put it in reverse and back down to the water, even where it's not steep. Sissy!

This is where I had been keeping up. Now it's all jungly around the drainage pipe.

Are the seed heads ripe? If not and they did not rip out roots, the weeds will likely not grow when moved.

I'm not sure about seed heads. Mostly grasses.

This is just a "turn around" area for them, next to the road, since they can't back up. They talked to DH this morning, and he voiced the concern that they'd "trash it," but they said if it got torn up, they'd grade it. It's just field grass growing there, and it's about 50 feet past where the county is responsible for maintenance (plowing, grading). Believe me, they don't want to have to be responsible for past where the "Road Ends" sign is. :gig We're low enough priority as it is; they don't want more responsibility back here.

Like you say, it looks like he could back the mower into that and move over a few times. Then the guys weed eating could finish it off.
